What the job involves
Zoning starts at the ductwork. We add motorized dampers in the supply trunks or branches, wire them back to a zone control panel, and pair each zone with its own thermostat. The panel decides which dampers open and tells the equipment when to run. On existing systems we often reuse the duct layout and add a bypass or adjust blower settings so airflow stays where it belongs. Wiring runs are the slow part, especially through a tight attic in August. We plan those before we quote the work.
What we check or install
We check static pressure, duct sizing and current airflow to each room, because zoning cannot fix a duct that was undersized from the start. We look at the air handler blower type, the existing low voltage wiring, and whether your thermostats can talk to a zone panel. Then we install dampers, the panel, thermostat wiring and new thermostats where needed. Afterward we run each zone alone and together, confirm dampers stroke fully, and verify the system is not short cycling against a closed house.
How we decide it is the right call
Zoning is right when rooms have genuinely different loads, a west-facing bedroom against a shaded interior hall, or a second floor that bakes by three in the afternoon. It is the wrong call when the real problem is a crushed flex duct, a leaking return, or a system that is already struggling to keep up. We measure first. Sometimes sealing ducts and rebalancing registers fixes the complaint for less disruption, and we will tell you that instead of selling you dampers.

Can I add zoning to my existing AC system?
Often yes, if the ductwork can be reached and the blower can handle reduced airflow when one zone calls. We inspect the attic runs and air handler first, then tell you what is realistic.
How many zones do I need?
Most homes we work on use two or three, usually by floor or by wing. More zones mean more dampers and tighter airflow margins, so we base the number on your duct layout and room loads.
Will zoning wear out my air conditioner faster?
Not if it is set up correctly. Problems come from too little airflow when one small zone calls, which causes short cycling. We size dampers and set minimum airflow to prevent that.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping, water stains on the ceiling. That detail helps us bring the right parts.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, refrigerant performance, airflow and the condensate line. We find the actual cause instead of swapping parts and hoping the problem stays away.
- Step 3
You approve the repair
We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and how long the part is likely to last. Nothing gets replaced until you say go, and we test the system before leaving.

Why homeowners call us
- Built for the salt airCoastal Florida is hard on outdoor equipment. Coils corrode, contactors pit, fan motors seize early. We look for that damage during every air conditioning repair so a small failure does not take the whole system down.
- Condensate lines we actually clearBy late summer, drain lines clog with algae and shut systems off on the float switch. We clear the line, check the pan and the safety switch, and show you what caused the backup.
- Heating tooCold snaps still arrive. We do heating repair and heater repair on heat pumps, strip heat and furnace repair where homes have one, so the system works in January as well as August.
- Plain talk about older systemsIf a repair makes sense, we repair it. If a unit is failing in ways that will keep costing you, we say that too and lay out the options. You decide, not us.

- Straight answersWhen a replacement beats a repair, we tell you, sometimes before we roll a truck.
