Can any smart thermostat work with my system?
Most standard cooling and heating systems accept common smart thermostats, but heat pumps, dual-fuel setups and zoning panels are pickier. Tell us your equipment type and we will confirm compatibility before we order anything, so you are not stuck with the wrong control.
What is a common wire and do I need one?
The common wire, or C wire, gives a thermostat steady 24-volt power instead of relying on batteries. Smart thermostats generally need it. If your wall only has four wires, we either repull, add an adapter, or use a control designed for that setup.
How long does a thermostat replacement take?
A straight swap on an existing wire bundle is usually under an hour, including a full heating and cooling test cycle. Adding a wire, relocating the thermostat, or commissioning a zoning panel takes longer because each zone has to be verified separately.
Why is my new thermostat making the AC short cycle?
Usually wiring or configuration. A jumper left in place, a heat pump set up as conventional, or cycle settings that are too aggressive will all do it. We check the terminal assignments against the equipment and correct the setup rather than guessing.
Should I move the thermostat to a different wall?
Sometimes. A thermostat in direct sun, near a return vent, on an exterior wall, or above a heat source will read wrong and run your system at the wrong times. We can advise on a better location and run new low-voltage wire to it.
Can zoning fix my hot second floor?
Often it helps a lot, since zoning lets each area call for cooling on its own instead of averaging the whole house. It works best when the ductwork can handle the split, so we look at duct sizing and static pressure first.
